In an effort to get the theatre's footlights shining again, two sister theatre companies - Entr'Acte Theatrix and Palm Beach Principal Players - are co-producing JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, which will run for 10 performances at the former Caldwell Theatre, July 5-15. The dynamic rock musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice is a musical interpretation of the final days of Jesus Christ that is not so much a story about religion as it is about the emergence of a charismatic rebel who surfaces among an oppressed people to pacifistically challenge the moral state of existing affairs - all told in the musical vernacular of rock 'n' roll, just like HAIR before it.

LA CAGE AUX FOLLES recently made Tony Awards history as the first show to ever win the Tony Award three times for best production. The classic musical comedy by Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein originally won six Tony Awards in 1984, including Best Musical. A Broadway revival won two 2005 Tony Awards including the Best Revival of a Musical prize. Carole J. Bufford made her entrance on the New York cabaret stage in the Metropolitan Room's MetroStar Talent Challenge. Clayton Phillips makes his directorial debut at the Miami Beach Stage Door Theatre, leading a cast of accomplished actors in what promises to be a riveting production. Currently the Production Manager for Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Clayton has also directed local Florida productions of Music Man, Hairspray and Chicago for Lake Worth Playhouse and The Outgoing Tide for Arts Garage in Delray Beach. He is the recipient of the New Hampshire Theatre Award for Best Director for his production of John Pielmeier's Slow Dance With A Hot Pick-Up and was Harold Prince's assistant for the Broadway and touring productions of Kiss of the Spider Woman, Candide and Parade.

The Waterfront Playhouse presents Emmy Award-winner Leslie Jordan as part of Key West Pride Week. Mr. Jordan will be bringing his critically-acclaimed new show, "Fruit Fly" to the Waterfront stage on June 8th and 9th at 8 pm. Tickets are $45, and they are going fast. Mr. Jordan is best known for his performance in the stage and film versions of "Sordid Lives," and his Emmy-winning turn as Beverley Leslie, the comic foil to Megan Mullally's Karen Walker on "Will and Grace."

FUNDarte's Out in the Tropics brings award-winning contemporary LBGTQ artists and arts events to South Florida annually. In its third year, the Festival presents Teatro El Publico's staging of Caligula from Havana, Cuba on June 14-16, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. at the Colony Theater, in Miami Beach. In this production (never before seen in the U.S.), the tyrannical Caligula is given a contemporary face, armed with a 'mask of gayness' and 'the glamour of illustrious uniforms,' inciting audiences to witness other forms of misconduct beyond the sexual.

Gulfshore Playhouse announced the final show that will complete their 2012-2013 season: "I Am My Own Wife", the Tony Award-winning and Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Doug Hughes. The Playhouse will present this play that the New York Times called "both moving and intellectually absorbing" January 18-Feb 3, 2013, with a preview performance on January 17th.

Craig Smith, Managing Partner of the new Alhambra Theatre & Dining announced this morning that Joyce DeWitt will star in Sam Bobrick's romantic comedy, Remember Me. Miss DeWitt is most widely known to audiences for her starring role as 'Janet Wood' in the ABC Television hit series "Three's Company," but she is no stranger to live theater, working both as actress and director in a stage career which spans over forty years. She recently starred in A Scattered, Smothered and Covered Christmas Musical and the Canadian productions of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Dinner With Friends and Alfred Uhry's Tony Award-winning play The Last Night of Ballyhoo.
