Joshua Redman and company put on an epic performance on 11/16. Redman’s saxophone gleamed with his signature liquid-gold tone, while his mellifluous improvisation intertwined beautifully with Gabrielle Cavassa’s smooth, silky vocals.

Knowing it was the last performance at the venue that Mosher has called home for six years added a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to the evening. That being said, the sense of community and artistry Mosher has built through her curated showcase was palpable.

Carnegie Hall was all a-buzz on Friday evening, October 11, for The Stylistics’ long-awaited return to the prestigious venue, where they last performed 50 years ago! The Stylistics were in top form. The trio had the audience clapping and swaying in their seats, as they sung through their hit catalogue.

This is not just a “run-of-the-mill” tribute show. For Dver knew Newley personally, and was able to share intimate, poignant stories of her and her late husband’s friendship with the British singer-songwriter.

Expertly directed by Lennie Watts, Carson’s latest cabaret delivers on all fronts. With clever medleys and informative patter, Carson and team created a marvelous, hypnotic show! The next performance is 10/6 at 4 pm

Matthew Martin Ward has made a name for himself as an accomplished Musical Director for many of New York’s cabaret performers, and now, he has taken center stage with his debut solo cabaret “What I Love” on Saturday September 14. When delivering patter, Ward’s distinctive wit was evident, with his deadpan comic delivery landing every time.

As it says on his promotional material, Joe Fox traveled to Maine in 2009 where he made a documentary on same sex marriage. While scenes from the documentary play during the performance, it is Fox’s story that is the feature of this fascinating show, which is less cabaret and more of a theatrical piece with songs.

On Thursday evening, July 25, Greta Gertler Gold and Hilary Bell showcased musical numbers and the synopsis from their 29-hour reading for an enthusiastic crowd at Joe’s Pub.

Lucie Arnaz has had a long and varied career. The crowd at 54 Below on Thursday, July 20 was treated to a setlist of songs from a bevy of roles she has played or desired to play. Overall, Arnaz proved why she indeed got so many jobs, and how she continues to shine on stage today!

The premise of Talia Suskauer's July 8th show was simply songs that Suskauer sings in the shower, and judging by the crowd’s enthusiasm, all were thrilled that she was bringing them to the stage!

Entering with a rousing mash-up of Michael John LaChiusa’s “Welcome to my Party” and “I Love Being Here with You” by Peggy Lee and Bill Schluger, Bornstein set the tone with a hilarious and touching homage to her father, who sadly passed away during the pandemic. The show is a touching homage to a well-loved father.

On Friday June 28, the audience at Don’t Tell Mama was taken on a journey of theatrical storytelling by singer and actress Shannon Daley. This highly original, intriguing piece of theater (which worked surprisingly well in a cabaret space), was well worth another run. This reviewer hopes Daley and her formidable team will bring it back soon!

Susan Mack played to a sold-out crowd at Birdland on Monday night. Overall, Mack delivered a wonderful night of music, which transported the audience away from the stresses of the day and melted the blues away.

Last Friday, May 24, the audience at 54 Below was treated to the beautiful, dulcet tones of America’s Got Talent finalist, Jimmie Herrod with COLOR & LIGHT. This reviewer loved seeing just how much Herrod was enjoying himself on stage. He performed with such ease and grace and communicated so effortlessly with his bandmates. It was a joy to watch!

On Wednesday night, May 22, you could feel the buzz amongst the supportive, near sold-out crowd as Henderson embarked on his final performance of GETTING TO NOËL YOU! His comic timing and facial expressions were nothing short of entertaining!

The California-based singer has performed this show for a decade now. It has been seen by over 5,000 audience members across the country – and it’s not hard to see why it’s garnered such a following. This was the first time she’s performed it in New York, and hopefully not the last!

Singer Gillian Bell entered Green Room 42 in a sparkly pantsuit to wild applause last Thursday evening, May 16, showcasing her big, brassy belt!

On Thursday, May 16, this reviewer attended the next installment in the series, “Now & Then: The Stories,” and was blown away by Mayes’ storytelling prowess.

There were so many beautiful songs and arrangements, that you’ll simply have to acquire the album or stream it (on Spotify and Apple Music) for yourself to hear the magic that is Linda Kahn!
