The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey continues its fall season with the epic masterpiece The Grapes of Wrath by Frank Galati, from the novel by John Steinbeck. The production is directed by Joe Discher, who directed the critically acclaimed Shakespeare Theatre production of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men in 2004. The Tony Award-winning The Grapes of Wrath begins performances on October 21 and continues through November 15 at the Shakespeare Theatre Main Stage.

Tony Sandler's Holiday Greetings, a variety show showcasing the dulcet voice of platinum-selling artist Tony Sandler with the 30-member, critically acclaimed Land of Lakes Choirboys of St. Francis, MN, and a seven member musical ensemble, plays Hennepin Theatre Trust's Pantages Theatre at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009.

Marin Theatre Company will produce the world premiere of its 2009 Sky Cooper New American Play Prize winner, Sunlight by Sharr White, January 21 through February 14, 2010. In addition to the Sky Cooper Prize, Sunlight has garnered substantial national recognition. Following MTC's premiere, this searing political thriller will be produced at three other theaters as part of a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere-Arts West in Seattle, Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis, and New Jersey Rep.

Performed as part of Westport Country Playhouse's 2008 Season, VIGIL is the much lauded, new play by award-winning Morris Panych, one of Canada's most celebrated playwrights. Starring Tony Award nominees Malcolm Gets (Television's 'Caroline in the City') and theatre legend Helen Stenborg, VIGIL tells the wickedly funny story of a selfish bank drudge who is tending to the dying aunt he hasn't seen in 30 years. She, however, isn't going anywhere anytime soon. VIGIL is sure to appeal to those who love their comedy with a dark twist.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Thornton Wilder's Our Town follows the courtship and marriage of George and Emily, and in following the two, reveals the hidden mystery behind the everyday. Wilder's portrait of life, love and death is set in Grover's Corners, New Hampshire, a fictional New England town at the start of the 20th century. With a penetrating wisdom about living in community, this play is an enduring American treasure and one of the greatest plays of world theatre. Recommended for general audiences. Our Town, by Thornton Wilder and directed by Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd, begins performances Friday, October 2 and runs through Sunday, November 1 on the Hubbard Stage.

The New York Philharmonic has added three concerts to its schedule, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, with pianist Emanuel Ax as soloist, Friday and Saturday, October 30-31, 2009, at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, October 31 at 2:00 p.m.

Be afraid, be very afraid! Visit the Shelterbelt Theatre if you dare, where Shelterskelter returns with 10 short tales of horror, murder, mystery and the macabre. An agreement, in principle, has been reached for local businessman Greg Frankenfield to take the reigns at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. Subject to various contingencies, Frankenfield could purchase the theatres from current owner and producer Thomas K. Scallen by early next year.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is pleased to announce publication of the first two books in their new paperback series of Richard Wilbur's world-renowned English verse translations of five Moliere comedies, gems of French neo-classical drama, for years available only in acting editions. The series' four volumes include a foreword by John Simon; an interview with Wilbur, by Dana Gioia; as well as Wilbur's introductions to the plays, and cover designs by Chip Kidd. Together, they will complete the trade publication of these vital theatrical works.
