The Tony Awards are like Christmas in June for theatre lovers, and that makes this year's nominees the reason for the season. This year's Tony nominees transported us with the magic of theatre, and we're saluting their work by taking a closer look at their extraordinary accomplishments. Today we're studying up on Julie White!
Her Nomination: Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play
The Show: Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus
The Role: Carol
Up Against: Fionnula Flanagan (The Ferryman), Celia Keenan-Bolger (To Kill a Mockingbird), Kristine Nielsen (Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus), Ruth Wilson (King Lear)
Did You Know?: Julie joined the company of Gary at the beginning of March- just days before previews began- after Andrea Martin suffered an injury and had to depart the production. White's co-star Kristine Nielsen took over in Martin's role and White took over in Nielsen's.
Julie on Gary: "It's been one of the gifts of my life, getting to do [Gary]. I'm just so sad that it involved Andrea falling down in the bathtub and breaking her ribs for me to get to play Carol on Broadway, but I really feel blessed!"
watch as Julie tells us all about what this nomination means to her, how she's preparing for the Tonys, and so much more!
