Quote of the Day: A passage by FUN HOME author Alison Bechdel...

"It was a vicious circle, though. The more gratification we found in our own geniuses, the more isolated we grew. Our home was like an artists' colony. We ate together, but otherwise were absorbed in our separate pursuits. And in this isolation, our creativity took on an aspect of compulsion."
-- Alison Bechdel, FUN HOME (via Goodreads)

Video of the Day: Watch the Rockettes in NEW YORK SPRING SPECTACULAR's SINGIN' IN THE RAIN number!

And a Happy Birthday shout-out to Bartlett Sher, who turns 56 today!

Sher is currently directing Broadway's The King and I. Before that, he helmed The Bridges of Madison County, Golden Boy, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, South Pacific (which won him a Tony and a Drama Desk in 2008), Awake and Sing! and The Light in the Piazza. Among his off-Broadway directorial gigs are Blood and Gifts, Prayer for My Enemy, Don Juan, Cymbeline, The Butterfly Collection, Waste and The Nest. Sher is also directing this year's revival of Fiddler on the Roof.
