Billy Howle to Join Lesley Manville in Almeida Theatre's GHOSTS Next Month at BAM

The Daily Mail reports that Olivier winner Lesley Manville will be joined by "brilliant" newcomer Billy Howle in Ibsen's GHOSTS, directed and adapted by Richard Eyre, when it comes to Brooklyn Academy of Music on April 5.

Manville originated the role of 'Helena Alving' at the Almeida Theatre and followed it to the West End. Jack Lowden starred as 'Oswald' in London but will not be traveling across the pond due to his WAR AND PEACE filming schedule.

GHOSTS is described on BAM's website as: "Uncouth family relations. Malicious infections. Upended Victorian mores. Considered shockingly indecent when it premiered in 1882, Ghosts is given chilling new life in this production, which originated at the Almeida Theatre and was transferred to the West End by Sonia Friedman Productions...Helene Alving has spent her life suspended in an emotional void after the death of her cruel but outwardly charming husband. She is determined to escape the ghosts of her past by telling her son, Oswald, the truth about his father. But on his return from his life as a painter in France, Oswald reveals how he has already inherited the legacy of Alving's dissolute life."

The production features design by Tim Hatley, lighting by Peter Mumford and sound by John Leonard.

Manville has also appeared in GRIEF at the National Theatre and in the films ANOTHER YEAR and TOPSY-TURVY. Howle has appeared on TV in the miniseries GLUE and NEW WORLDS.
