Fun Home, the Award-winning new musical that began previews on Broadway on March 27, announced today that an updated and expanded Broadway version of the cast recording will be released next month on PS Classics. With music by four-time Tony Award nominee Jeanine Tesori, a book and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Lisa Kron, the new Fun Home cast recording will now feature Emily Skeggs, who took over the role of Medium Alison during the show's original Off-Broadway run and is re-creating the role on Broadway. The album will include new material written for the Broadway production, as well as additional material not included on the original recording. Originally released in February 2014, the updated album will again be produced by PS Classics co-founders Tommy Krasker & Philip Chaffin, and will include all-new packaging and photographs from the Broadway production. This new Fun Home Cast Recording is now available for pre-sale on www.psclassics.com; it can be purchased at the PS Classics website and in-person at Circle in the Square Theatre beginning May 5, with in-store and digital release set for May 19.
Now in previews, Fun Home, which is directed by Sam Gold, officially opens on Broadway at the Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th Street), on Sunday, April 19th.
Fun Home introduces us to Alison at three different ages, revealing memories of her uniquely dysfunctional family - her mother, brothers and volatile, brilliant, enigmatic father - that connect with her in surprising new ways. This intimate and emotional theatrical experience is performed entirely in the round, bringing audiences closer to Alison's story than ever before. A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, Fun Home is a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes.
The complete Broadway cast of Fun Home includes Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris, three-time Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn, Beth Malone, Obie Award-winner Sydney Lucas, Emily Skeggs, Roberta Colindrez, Zell Steele Morrow, Joel Perez, Oscar Williams, Lauren Patten, Gabriella Pizzolo, Marrick Smith, Jim Stanek, and Nicole Van Giesen.
Fun Home opened to rave reviews at The Public Theater in October 2013, and was quickly extended four times due to popular demand. It was named Best Musical by the New York Drama Critics Circle, and received the OBIE, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle and Off Broadway Alliance Awards in the 2013-2014 season.
The creative team of Fun Home also includes Danny Mefford (Choreography), David Zinn (Set and Costume Design), Ben Stanton (Lighting Design), Kai Harada (Sound Design), Chris Fenwick (Music Direction) and John Clancy (Orchestrations).
