This weekend, the casts of more than 30 West End shows perform for free in Trafalgar Square! WEST END LIVE 2016 took place yesterday, 18 June (11am-6pm) and today, 19 June (12pm-6pm). One of today's performances featured Ramin Karimloo and Kerry Ellis belting out a tune for MURDER BALLAD. Both performers are set to appear in the UK Premiere of the musical this fall. On Sunday June 12th the Palm West's Tony Viewing Party was hosted by Tony Award winner Christian Hoff, who earned the Best Featured Actor in a Musical Award in 2006 for his portrayal of Tommy DeVito in Jersey Boys. The event benefitted The V Foundation for Cancer Research, founded by Jim Valvano in 1993.  (more...)

On Saturday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m., a group of over 60 children including Broadway performers and friends joined together in New York City in Times Square to raise their voices for peace in hopes to help end gun violence.  They created a peaceful sing-in demonstration in front of the Walgreen's on West 42 Street and Broadway. Today in 1978, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas opened at the 46th Street Theatre (now the Richard Rodgers Theatre), where it ran for 1584 performances. The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is a musical with a book by Texas author Larry L. King and Peter Masterson and music and lyrics by Carol Hall. It is based on a story by King that was inspired by the real-life Chicken Ranch in La Grange, Texas. The original Broadway production was directed by Peter Masterson and Tommy Tune and choreographed by Tune and Thommie Walsh. (more...)

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the recipients of the latest round of Global Connections. Supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Global Connections encourages reciprocity and cultural exchange through two programs: ON the ROAD grants to foster new relationships with international colleagues; and IN the LAB grants to further pre-existing international collaborations. Now in its fifth year, the Global Connections program awarded a total of $70,000 to ten projects in this year's cycle, with over $700,000 awarded to date. (more...)
