The Backers Volunteer Board of the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep) will present Motorcycles and Margaritas, a cocktail party, live auction and raffle, on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 5-8 pm at the MOTO Museum, 3441 Olive in the Grand Center Arts District.

Proceeds from the event support The Rep’s mission to serve the community with life-enriching educational programs and productions of unparalleled quality.

General admission to Motorcycles and Margaritas is $55 per person. “Easy Rider” patron tickets are available for $85 per person, which includes the main party, a pre-party gallery tour hosted by MOTO Museum founder Steve Smith, plus recognition in the event program and programs for The Rep’s Mainstage series.

To purchase tickets or for more information, call The Rep Box Office at (314) 968-4925 or visit www.repstl.org.

The event’s honorary chair is Tony Twist. Motorcycle enthusiast Twist gained notoriety as a popular “enforcer” with The St. Louis Blues from 1994 through his early retirement in 1998. Now active as a sports announcer and entrepreneur “The Twister”, as his fans have affectionately named him, continues to be a popular figure in St. Louis sports.

Motorcycles and Margaritas will feature a live auction including items such as an autographed St. Louis Blues jersey; a Gulf Shores, Alabama vacation; an Imaginary Theatre Company performance; dinner for seven with The Rep’s Artistic Director Steven Woolf; a leather piece crafted by The Rep’s own tailor Bob Trump (aka “Biker Bob") and much more.

A “Grand” Raffle, with a top prize of $1,000 cash and other prizes including restaurant gift certificates and theatre tickets will also be featured. Raffle chances will be available for sale at $10 or three for $25.

Guests at Motorcycles and Margaritas are encouraged to dress in “Motorcycle casual” and enjoy margaritas (of course!) and hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and soda.

Complimentary valet parking will be available.

The Backers Volunteer Board of The Rep is involved with the life of the theatre in a variety of ways.Volunteers serve as ushers, provide a docent program for student matinees and make an annual financial gift to the theater. Volunteers organize and participate in costume parades, career days, backstage tours and assist with a variety of other events.
