Sports aren’t the only way to stay in shape this summer! The Off Broadway Troupers’ summer productions have some great roles for boys.

“Noodle Doodle Box,” the absurd comedy about friendship, can use three boys and/or girls as the clowns.   Students with good comic timing might consider auditioning for this play which will open the double bill in July.Auditions are June 6, 1pm at The Playmakers Theatre, 121 W. 3rd in Grove.

“Seussical, Jr.”  has myriad possibilities for boys who like to sing, move, and maybe even do some tumbling.  There’s the principal character The Cat in the Hat, a great role to show off a comic character & a good singing voice.  Then there’s Horton, the elephant,  who has lots of great songs.  The boy/JoJo, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Mayor of Whoville, is one of the leading roles. This role needs a student with not only a good voice but lots of energy.  There’s also Yertle the Turtle and Vlad the Vulture who, sadly, only have two songs/scenes, although they are in the big opening & closing number as well.

For those who don’t want to go it alone, there are the Wickershams!  The monkeys!  These are great roles for three to four boys who like to sing in a group, move like monkeys, and maybe even tumble.

The chorus who become the citizens of Whoville, the Jungle of Nool, Circus Animals, Hunters, etc., will be very busy singing and moving in some great musical numbers.
