Broadway's Queen of Kvetching, Jackie Hoffman, has been sending New York audiences into hysterics with her outrageous antics since making her 2002 Broadway debut in HAIRSPRAY.
When word started spreading through the Internet that she was allowed one ad-libbed line per performance while making an awkward 2nd act entrance over an audience member ("Last lap dance before Yom Kippur!", "Don't look up the dress I've got stretch marks!") Broadway posted a collection over 60 of her funniest wise-cracks (click here).
Her newest gig is starring as Princess Winnifred in Transport Group's new Off-Broadway revival of the musical classic ONCE UPON A MATTRESS.
Here are some recent highlights from Jackie Hoffman's Twitter feed where she comments on rehearsals, attending opening night of Broadway's newest musical, ALLEGIANCE, and more.
Carol Burnett told me I'd have fun with this role. She failed to tell me I need the stamina of Caitlyn when she was Bruce #OUAM

The raucous musical fairy tale Once Upon A Mattress stars the formidable Jackie Hoffman (On the Town, Xanadu, Difficult People) and the inimitable John "Lypsinka" Epperson (Lypsinka's The Boxed Set, The Passion of the Crawford). During a kingdom-wide search to find a princess fit for the hapless Prince Dauntless, in swims the less-than-regal Princess Winnifred the Woebegone (Hoffman). Unrefined and undeniably charming, Winnifred is like no princess Dauntless has ever seen and his heart is captured. The truly terrible Queen Aggravain (Epperson) goes on a mission to come between her son and his soulmate in this retelling of the classic story of "The Princess and the Pea." This is a Happily-Ever-After like no other!
Once Upon a Mattress has music by Mary Rodgers and lyrics by Marshall Barer and a book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer.
