On Thursday night, the cast of Chicago, including Bianca Marroquin, Amra-Faye Wright, Ryan Silverman, Christopher Fitzgerald, and Roz Ryan celebrated the show's 17th year on Broadway with a special cake-cutting. The musicals centers around Roxie Hart, a woman who dupes the public by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines. This week, the critically acclaimed A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder opened on Broadway. The show stars Tony Award Winner Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham. The cast gathered after the performance to celebrate their opening night. For pictures of all the opening night festivities, click here.

Sondheim's A BED AND A CHAIR closed on Sunday after a week-long run at City Center. The show featured Bernadette Peters, Norm Lewis, Cyrille Aimee, and Jeremy Jordan, and told the story of love and loss in New York City. Written by Sondheim and Winston Marsalis, all the pieces in the show were new Sondheim songs with Marsalis's new look on them. For more pictures of the closing night party, click here.

HBO Documentary Six by Sondheim is a close look at the life of Steven Sondheim, the composer-lyricist. The documentary will look at his groundbreaking shows, including "Company", "Sweeny Todd", and "Sunday in the Park". The musical will be interspersed with clips of the original stars singing the Sondheim's songs, as well as Laura Osnes, Jeremy Jordan, Darren Criss, and America Ferrara. Before the opening performance of A Gentleman's Guide To Love and Murder, the show held the traditional Gypsy Rose ceremony. Starting over fifty years ago, each year the gypsy robe is decorated by the shows of that season and is worn before the show by the person who has been in the most shows. This week, the 24 Hour Company put on their thirteenth annual performance of the 24 Hour Plays. This benefit attracts some of the biggest names in theatre and film as they join to participate in all parts of theatre: writing, directing, and performing 6 original short plays, all in just 24 hours. This year included Broadway stars including Krysta Rodriguez, Zachary Levi, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, as well as other entertainment stars. For more pictures from the night, click here.

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical cast met the press this week, including stars Jessie Mueller, who will play Ms. King, along with Jake Epstein as Gerry Goffin, Anika Larsen as Cyntheia Weil, and more. The show will feature a stunning variety of Carole King and Gerry Goffin songs. The show began previews last night, and opening night is scheduled for January 12th. Last night, Manhattan Theatre Club's production of The Commons of Pensacola premiered. Written by Amanda Peet and directed by Lynne Meadow, it stars Blythe Danner, Zoe Levin, Ali Marsh, Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael Stahl-David, and Nilaja Sun. The story follows the motives of a family after a mother is forced to leave New York after her husband's Wall Street Scam and moves to Pensacola.
