On Thursday night, the cast of Chicago, including Bianca Marroquin, Amra-Faye Wright, Ryan Silverman, Christopher Fitzgerald, and Roz Ryan celebrated the show's 17th year on Broadway with a special cake-cutting. Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.
CHICAGO now stars Latina superstar Bianca Marroquin (Mary Poppins, "Mira Quien Baila") as Roxie Hart, South Africa native and celebrated international leading lady Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Ryan Silverman (The Phantom of the Opera, Passion) as Billy Flynn, Paul C. Vogt (Hairspray, The Little Mermaid) as Amos Hart, Roz Ryan (Scandalous, Dreamgirls) as Matron "Mama" Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.The Chicago ensemble includes Donna Marie Asbury, Nicole Bridgewater, Jennifer Dunne, Anne Horak, David Kent, J. Loeffelholz, Nathan Madden, Sharon Moore, Brian O'Brien, Denny Paschall, Stephanie Pope, Angel Reda, Jason Patrick Sands, Brian Spitulnik, Tonya Wathen, Amos Wolff, Ryan Worsing and Adam Zotovich.
CHICAGO features set design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Tony Award winner William Ivey Long, lighting design by Tony Award winner Ken Billington, sound design by Scott Lehrer, musical supervision by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Leslie Stifelman.
