With one year in the pandemic down, theatre is beginning to reemerge. One particular theatre, the Manhattan Class Company (MCC), has recently announced the return of their annual concert "Miscast". For those who aren't familiar, Miscast gives Broadway performers the chance to gather and perform songs sung by characters they wouldn't typically be cast as (gender-bending being the most common approach.)

In the past, we've seen Katrina Lenk do "If I Were a Rich Man", Gavin Creel & Aaron Tveit perform "Take Me or Leave Me" and the stars of Mean Girls crush a Jersey Boys Medley. But this year, YOU could be performing with them.

Well, virtually anyway. MCC Theater will be accepting submissions to their challenge via Tiktok until April 16th, and afterwards will choose the few videos that will be streamed alongside the stars of this year's concert. Let's get into the deets.

For all information, head to https://mcctheater.org/miscastmechallenge/. All you have to do is create your Miscast video and tag the theater, easy!

Personally, I'm excited to see what everyone will come up with. I've already seen a few of the Miscast videos on my feed, and the talent is REAL. Even one of my favorite Tiktok personalities, Deanna Giulietti, has teased her fans with a Newsies performance (with former Newsie Tommy Bracco!)

It would be a dream to be cast in MISCAST with @tommy_bracco A DREAM. Enjoy our mashup audition from NEWSIES! ##MCCMISCASTME ##MISCAST21 @mcctheater

They've even announced a few of the Broadway performers involved this year; Annaleigh Ashford, Robin de Jesus, Renee Elise Goldsberry, LaChanze, Kelli O'Hara, and Billy Porter.

Check out the #MCCMISCASTME hashtag on Tiktok to watch some of the incredible video submissions, and be sure to watch the concert on May 16th!
