A Look At the Start of Another School Year
Even though I still have a couple weeks left of summer, I'm seeing people starting to get back into the routine of the school year, and it got me actually a little excited for my sophomore year of college.
Freshman year was anything but ordinary for me, and pretty much everyone can say that about their own respective grade level. In spite of this, though, I got to meet some of the most amazing people that I still would've met had it not been for the revised schedule for the school year.
You see, I go to a Christian university, Missouri Baptist, but you don't see that just by looking at it from the outside. Really, the only real Christian stuff we do is weekly chapel and sometimes prayers during lectures, and required courses on the Old and New Testaments. Otherwise, though, you're just looking at the typical college experience.
Choir was my real outlet last year, and I've no doubt that it will be the same this year. My professor, the wonderful Dr. Jordan Cox, was and is a light to everyone he came in contact with. He accepts people as they are, and embraces that special part of them. You really do see Christ in him, and that's rare nowadays.
Anyways, as I get into my major-specific classes after changing it late last school year, I'm really considering what it is I want to do with a degree in journalism. What I'm doing with this, right here, right now, is a dream come true for me. I won't be super upset if it doesn't happen, but it's nice to look ahead to the future and dream a little right?
