Breaking News: Stephanie J. Block, Christian Borle, and Andrew Rannells to Lead FALSETTOS Broadway Revival!

Lincoln Center Theater, in association with Jujamcyn Theaters, has announced that Stephanie J. Block, Christian Borle, and Andrew Rannells will head the cast of its new production of William Finn and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical FALSETTOS. Falsettos begins previews Thursday, September 29, and opens on Thursday, October 27 at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48 Street).

FALSETTOS, which won two Tony Awards for its score by William Finn and book by William Finn and James Lapine, combines the duo's 1981 musical March of the Falsettos with their 1990 sequel Falsettoland, to tell the story of a gay man named Marvin (to be played by Christian Borle), his lover Whizzer (to be played by Andrew Rannells), Marvin's wife Trina (to be played by Stephanie J. Block), and their extended family from the early '80s through the early days of the AIDS crisis.

The 2016 FALSETTOS will once again be directed by James Lapine. The production will have choreography by Spencer Liff, sets by David Rockwell, costumes by Jennifer Caprio, lighting by Jeff Croiter, sound by Dan Moses Schreier, and musical direction by Vadim Feichtner, conducting Michael Starobin's original orchestrations.

Additional casting for FALSETTOS will be announced at a later date.

William Finn and James Lapine return to Lincoln Center Theater where their musical A New Brain (written by Finn and Lapine, music and lyrics by Finn) played at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater in 1998 and won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. Additionally, Lapine and Finn have collaborated on the musicalsMuscle and Little Miss Sunshine. Lapine also directed Finn's musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on Broadway, for which they received Tony nominations for both direction and original score.

William Finn's Elegies: A Song Cycle premiered at Lincoln Center Theater in 2003. He wrote and composed In Trousers (L.A. Drama Critics Award); America Kicks Up Its Heels (Playwrights Horizons); and Make Me a Song (New York Stages); as well as Romance in Hard Times, Love's Fire: Fresh Numbers by Seven American Playwrights, and scores for Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale and As You Like It, all for The Public Theater. He graduated from Williams College, where he was awarded the Hutchinson Fellowship in Musical Composition.

For Lincoln Center Theater, James Lapine wrote and directed the Tony Award-nominated play Act One from the autobiography by Moss Hart, and directed his play Twelve Dreams. In addition to directing the HBO documentary Six by Sondheim, Lapine collaborated with Stephen Sondheim as author and director on the musicals Sunday in the Park with George (Pulitzer Prize), Into the Woods, Passion (Tony Award), and the multi-media revue Sondheim on Sondheim. On Broadway, he directed the 2013 revival of the musical Annie, Golden Child, The Diary of Anne Frank, and Amour. His other plays include Luck, Pluck and Virtue, The Moment When, Fran's Bed, and Mrs. Miller Does Her Thing.

Lincoln Center Theater will produce Falsettos as part of its 32nd year. LCT is one of New York's favorite not-for-profit theaters, with productions at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont, Mitzi E. Newhouse, and Claire Tow Theaters, as well as other theaters on and off Broadway, as well as touring productions nationally and around the world, TV and film projects, and original cast recordings. Notable recent productions include the award-winning The Coast of Utopia, Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, War Horse, Other Desert Cities, and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Current productions include the Tony Award-winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, The Royale at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, and Her Requiem at the Claire Tow Theater. LCT3 is Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and developing new audiences.

STEPHANIE J. BLOCK's Broadway credits include The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Tony and Drama Desk award nominations), Reno Sweeney in the 2011 revival of Anything Goes, 9 to 5: The Musical (Drama Desk nomination), The Pirate Queen, The Boy From Oz (as Liza Minnelli opposite Hugh Jackman), and Wicked. Off-Broadway, she was nominated for Drama Desk Awards for her performances in Little Miss Sunshine and By The Way, Meet Vera Stark. She has sung with numerous symphony orchestras including the NY Pops at Carnegie Hall, Boston Pops, National Symphony Orchestra (under the baton of Marvin Hamlisch), Dallas Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony, Columbus Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, and the Cleveland Pops, among many others. Her solo album is titled This Place I Know.

CHRISTIAN BORLE returns to Lincoln Center Theater where he appeared in William Finn'sElegies: A Song Cycle. A two-time Tony Award winner for his performances in Something Rotten! and Peter and the Starcatcher, his other Broadway credits include Spamalot, Legally Blonde, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Mary Poppins, Amour, Footloose, and Jesus Christ Superstar. His other New York credits include Angels in America (Signature Theatre), On the Town and Little Me at City Center Encores!, and Sweeney Todd in Concert with the NY Philharmonic. Television: "Sweeney Todd" for PBS' Live from Lincoln Center, "Smash," "Masters of Sex," "The Good Wife," "Sofia the First," "Lucky Duck," "The Sound of Music Live!," and "Peter Pan Live!." ANDREW RANNELLS was nominated for a Tony Award for his breakout role as Elder Price in Broadway's smash hit musical The Book of Mormon, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. His other Broadway credits include playing King George in Hamilton, Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Bob Gaudio in Jersey Boys, and Link Larkin inHairspray. Rannells can currently be seen in HBO's hit series "Girls" from producers Lena Dunham and Judd Apatow which is currently in its 5th season. On the big screen, Rannells starred in The Intern alongside Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway and Bachelorette alongside Kirsten Dunst, Rebel Wilson and Lizzy Caplan. He will also be seen in Comedy Central's "Another Period" and the upcoming film, Why Him? starring Bryan Cranston and James Franco.
