Why do fools fall in love? Have you ever asked yourself that question? Well the folks at ShenanArts will be asking this age old question in their upcoming musical production, "Why Do Fools Fall In Love", that will have a limited one weekend run, June 25-28 at Stage4 theatre in Verona.

"Why Do Fools Fall In Love", directed by Jeff McDaniel (Always.Patsy Cline, Tommy), centers on four girlfriends who gather to celebrate the upcoming wedding of one of their own. As the bachelorette party picks up steam and the refreshments flow, the girls discover more about each other's love lives than they had ever imagined. The hilarious plot is built around 19 songs from the middle to late 60's that are sure to bring a smile of remembrance to baby boomers that grew up with these classic tunes. Songs such as "He's A Rebel", "Baby I'm Yours", "A Little Bit Of Soap", and the popular title track, will have you tapping your toes and singing the melodies on the way home and for a long time after.

The show's creator, Roger Bean, is enjoying success with his show, "The Marvelous Wonderettes" that has become a smash Off-Broadway hit in New York.

"Why Do Fools Fall In Love is one funny show, while at the same time having a lot of meaning." says the show's director McDaniel. "At its core this piece is about the meaning of true friendship and the support for one another that it brings. I think the females in the audience will relate strongly." McDaniel continues. "It also has 19 wonderful 60's tunes which is one of my favorite musical periods. It is also a thrill to be working with such a talented group of ladies that have joined together for this show." McDaniel adds.

The 4-women show features, Cassy Maxton as Millie, the All-American, girl-next-door, Hanna Walters as Sally, the sassy, boy loving, beauty, Melissa Dull, as Florence, the shy, conservative intellect, and Cori McDaniel, as Dee Dee, the younger, sugar intolerant, tag along cousin of Florence.

Show time for the Thursday through Saturday evening performances is 7:30pm and the Sunday afternoon matinee begins at 3:00pm. Ticket prices range from $16 for reserved seats, $12 for adult general admission, and $8 for student general admission.
