As Music Director for the 16-time Tony nominated hit Hamilton, Tony Award-winner Alex Lacamoire explains just what goes into bringing a song to life. Below, watch as Lacamoire performs selections from the show, talks about the creative process, and discusses his collaborations with other members of the Hamilton team.

Lacamoire won a Tony and a Grammy for his work on In the Heights. He is an Emmy-nominated composer for "Sesame Street." For Hamilton, he was awarded an Obie and nominated for a Drama Desk Award. Select credits: Bring It On, Wicked, 9 to 5 (Drama Desk and Grammy nominations), Bat Boy, Godspell(2001 national tour), High Fidelity, Annie (2011 Broadway revival), Fly (Dallas Theater Center), Working (59E59), The Wiz (City Center), Legally Blonde, Dear Even Hansen (Arena Stage).

HAMILTON is a musical about the life of unlikely founding father Alexander Hamilton and his journey to make a mark on the nation. Grounded in the very beginning of U.S. politics with a hip-hop score, the record breaking, Pulitzer prize-winning show is now playing at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
