This week, we go around our Broadway World to feature stories in Washington, DC., Denver, Los Angeles and more. Check out our top 10 stories around our Broadway World below, which include Signature's CAKE OFF, SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM in Denver, and CARRIE THE KILLER MUSICAL in L.A., just to name a few.

East/Northeast

CAKE OFF

1. Washington, DC: Editor Jennifer Perry reviews Signature Theatre's CAKE OFF. She says, "Wilner and Jordan deliver a tight book that never lags, and does not get bogged down too much about proper messaging. They wisely let the story convey the messages rather than the other way around. The lyrics propel the story forward and provide new insights into the characters' thinking. Likewise, Adam Gwon's music is diverse yet quintessential contemporary musical theatre. Lovely heartfelt ballads for Rita like "Transform" are accompanied by the raucous duet "You Can't Have This (Round Three)," both of which are some of the strongest numbers in the show." 2. New Jersey: Editor Marina Kennedy reviews MURDER FOR TWO at George Street Playhouse. She says, "Murder for Two is a fast-paced, vibrant production, wonderfully performed. Ian Lowe captures the role of Marcus Moscowicz, a rather anxious and serious cop who hopes to crack the murder case in a short time. Complicating his investigation is a plethora of curious party guests, all portrayed by Joe Kinosian. Kinosian seamlessly transitions from the role of dancer to doctor to wife and back again. His portrayals are fascinating and completely convincing." Read more here.

Midwest

3. Cleveland, OH: Editor Roy Berko reviews an "exquisite" THE SECRET GARDEN at Great Lakes Theater. He says, "Simon's musical score is glorious. It contains beautiful songs with Indian and classical intonations. The haunting "Come to My Garden" wanders in and out of the entire score. Other highlight songs are Mary and Dickon's duet, "Show Me the Key," "Lily's Eyes," sung by Neville and Archibald, and the gorgeously presented "Where in the World" (Archibald) and "How Could I Ever Know" (Lily and Archibald)." ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS

4. Houston, TX: Editor Alexander Garza reviews ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS at the newly renovated Alley Theatre. He says, "Steven Epp was riveting in the role of Alfie. He tells everyone he's 86, but is consistently reminded by the cast in unison that "You're 87!" When his pacemaker is turned up, it gets him moving as if he'd had a shot of adrenaline, which results in great physical comedy from the Minneapolis native. Epp is best known for his work with The Moving Company, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, and for his work as a playwright. It was a joy to see him back on stage with the Alley company players." 5. Miami, FL: Editor Roger Martin reviews A MAP OF VIRTUE at Thinking Cap Theatre. He says, "Imagination with a Capital WOW!... Go see a A MAP OF VIRTUE at Thinking Cap Theatre. I double, no, triple dare you. You may have read somewhere that it's a confusing piece. Pah! Don't believe it. It's a simple tale of the adventures of a little statue of a little bird. Told with imagination. Vast, vast imagination. In the writing, in the acting, the direction, the staging, the set, the sound, the costumes, hell, even the Alsation Bacon and Onion Tart (Tarte Flambée) sold in the lobby snack bar is imaginary." 6. Nashville, TN: Editor Jeffrey Ellis reviews 12 ANGRY MEN at Arts Center of Cannon County. He says, "Overall, each of Deason's actors is superbly cast in their roles, bringing the 12 jurors in Rose's fictional murder trial to life with commitment and focus. So seamlessly do the actors become their characters that audiences may lose themselves in the minutiae of the courthouse deliberations, becoming a part of the vociferous struggles to mete out justice to the accused (whom we never meet, but get to know throughout the two hours of the play)." CARRIE THE KILLER MUSICAL EXPERIENCE

7. Los Angeles, CA: Editor Don Grigware reviews CARRIE THE KILLER MUSICAL EXPERIENCE. He says, "Now the show has transferred to the refurbished Los Angeles Theatre at 615 Broadway downtown, and I enjoyed this mounting even more than the first. There is something about the atmosphere of this theatre that adds an eerie quality to the proceedings, but, as changes go, what I noticed first and foremost is that several scenes have been restaged in this larger space, making the storytelling sharper, clearer, more focused than before... At the Los Angeles Theatre the show is indeed better, with the same brilliant cast in tact. Director Brady Schwind and choreographer Lee Martino are to be congratulated once more on their superior achievement. Welcome aboard Brett Ryback as assistant musical conductor at the keyboards." 8. Denver, CO: Editor Colin Roybal reviews SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM at Cherry Creek Theater. He says, "Payne has assembled quite a musical powerhouse of performers, led by music director Rob Lowe, who accompanies the entire show with just a keyboard. All of the performers gave outstanding performances, but two in particular moved me with their work in the show. Susie Roelofsz delivered a heartbreakingly-beautiful rendition of a solo from Passion that nearly brought me to tears.Stephen Day presented the most honest and spectacular rendition of "Being Alive" from Company that I have ever heard. In all, the very difficult music seemed like child's play to this incredible ensemble." Read more here.

International

9. UK/West End: Editor Liz Cearns reviews IN THE HEIGHTS at King's Cross Theatre. She says, "This modern, urban space suits the show, as it tells of a group of neighbours and their various, sometimes wild, aspirations - and it shows how some of the more outlandish fantasies can be made reality. The admittedly limited plot is not really the point with this piece, though. It's contagiously vibrant, and broadens one's expectations of musical theatre in a refreshing and unpretentious manner. Drew McOnie's choreography is stunning throughout and the cast are hugely talented." Read more here.

National Tour Highlight:

10. Editor Shari Barrett reviews LOVE LETTERS at The Wallis in Los Angeles. She says, "The undeniable chemistry between Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal is on full display again in LOVE LETTERS, a special theatrical tour that officially launched this week at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills. From the moment these two entered the Stage Holding hands, the audience was totally ready to be swept away into a very different yet in so many way similar tale of two lovers doing their best to just love and be honest with each other throughout their lives even though most of it was spent apart. And we were not disappointed." Read more here.
