Red Bull Theater (Jesse Berger, Artistic Director) announces that its acclaimed production of Thomas Middleton's Women Beware Women, adapted and directed by Jesse Berger will extend through January 18, 2009, at Theater at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues).

Thomas Middleton's rarely performed masterwork of Jacobean juiciness, Women Beware Women, a hilariously scathing social satire of sexual politics, with a spectacular tragicomic dénouement, continues Red Bull Theater's exploration of the seldom-seen classics of Shakespeare and his contemporaries, building on their successes with Pericles, The Revenger's Tragedy, Edward the Second, and simultaneously striking out in an imaginative new direction. Women Beware Women speaks with a shockingly contemporary voice about sexual politics and woman's rights, even as it is a playful parody of serious sexual games, ultimately showing a society imploding under the pressure of sexual manipulation, victimization, and gender inequality. Red Bull Theater's production of Women Beware Women is the first Off-Broadway revival of Middleton's uproarious masterpiece in over 20 years.

Jesse Berger directs a company that includes Anthony Bagnetto, Jeff Biehl, Darcie Champagne, Geraint Wyn Davies (King Lear opposite Christopher Plummer, "24"), Jodi Epstein, Al Espinosa, Jacob Fishel, Jonathan Fried, Jennifer Ikeda (Top Girls), Lisa H. Johanson, Marc LeVasseur, Roberta Maxwell (Equus original cast, Brokeback Mountain), Kathryn Meisle (Tartuffe, Tony Award nomination), Alex Morf, Alison Ostergaard, Everett Quinton (Ridiculous Theatrical Co., Irma Vep), Liv Rooth, and John Douglas Thompson; featuring live music and counter-tenor Shannon Wicks.

Red Bull Theater (Jesse Berger, Artistic Director) is the not-profit Off-Broadway theater company specializing in plays of heightened language, with a unique focus on the Jacobean plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries.  Red Bull embraces the imagination of theatergoers through intimate, evocative productions of great classic stories.
Recently acclaimed by Time Out New York as "the most exciting classical theater in New York," Red Bull Theater has staged acclaimed productions of Shakespeare's seldom-seen Pericles, a bold new adaptation of The Revenger's Tragedy, and a striking revival of Edward the Second.  The New York Times called Pericles "The Stuff of Dreams," The Revenger's Tragedy "Dynamite," and Edward the Second "fired with excitement."  All three productions were extended to sold-out Off-Broadway runs.  Red Bull Theater has produced over 30 readings through its ongoing Obie Award-winning Revelation Readings, a staged reading series that the Village Voice named "Best Play Reading Series." Red Bull Theater reaches out annually to Middle School students in the Bronx through its Direct Address education program, teaching dramatic and literacy skills using the plays of Shakespeare. This year, Red Bull Theater inaugurated a new play workshop called In The Raw, dedicated to developing new plays of heightened language and the classics of the future.

Performances of Women Beware Women will be Tuesday through Friday evenings at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm & 8pm, Sundays at 3pm (schedule varies - visit redbulltheater.com for complete calendar).
