"Halloween High School," a new musical makes its world premiere performance at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Billed as the new high energy monster mash musical, the show will play at the acclaimed theater through November 2, 2008.
This marks the eighth collaboration of
Bert Bernardi (Book/Lyrics) and
Scott Simonelli (Music). The pair has penned stage versions of two popular books, Robert D. San Souci's "Cinderella Skeleton" and Elise Primavera's "Auntie Claus" among others. Early next year, they will debut a third page-to-stage adaptation, Mini Gray's best-selling book "The Adventures of the Dish and the Spoon."
According to Bernardi "Halloween High School" blends the pop iconography of "High School Musical" and "
Grease" with the imagery of Halloween itself. The school is populated with witches, monsters and ghouls of all kinds. The fun starts when the perfect 1950's teen-age girl enrolls at the school. Simonelli's score has a blast-from-the-past feeling with songs like "Monster Crush," "Big Bad Wolfgirl" and "Casketball!"
Featured in the cast are Lance Anthony, Ashley DePascale, Mary Mannix, Andrew Pane, Jaime Bernstein, Tim Rinaldi,
Jordan Mann, Josh Sousa, Brennyn Langhorn (Once on this Island off-broadway at Cherry Lane),Maria Vee, and Jimmy Johansmeyer. Mr. Bernardi directs and choreographs with Sets by Delmar, Lighting by Hugh Hallinan, Costumes by Mr. Johansmeyer, Technical Direction by Steven Swatt and Stage Manager is Phill Hill.
The Downtown Cabaret Theatre Children's Company is Connecticut's Award-Winning cabaret-styletheatre for young audiences. Families are seated at tables and chairs and my bring along food and drink to enjoy during the show. "Halloween High School" marks the first production of its 27th consecutive season of theatre for young audience under the direction of Mr. Bernardi.
Performances are Saturdays and Sundays at Noon and 2:30pm with a special Family Dinner Show on Saturday October 25th at 5:30pm.
