On Saturday, October 8, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and family attended a performance of MATILDA, THE MUSICAL, at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre.
It was the second time the family has visited the Ed Mirvish Theatre. In 2012, they attended a performance of THE WIZARD OF OZ. It was the first time Trudeau children -- Xavier and Ella-Grace -- had attended a live theatrical show. They were captivated and enchanted.
The Prime Minister and family met with the 30-member cast before the performance and posed for photos with them.
MATILDA is the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.
MATILDA is a stage musical adaptation of the famous Roald Dahl novel. The musical originated at the Royal Shakespeare Company in England in 2011 and has gone on to conquer London's West End, Broadway, Australia and now Canada, where a Canadian production began in July 2016 and has been a critical and box office success. It has just had its final extension; due to popular demand it is playing until January 8, 2017.
