The third World AIDS Day concert presentation, The Secret Garden, was held on December 5th at Manhattan
Center Studios Grand Ballroom. Presented by Artistic Producer Jamie McGonnigal, directed by Stafford Arima, and featuring a 70-person choir, a 35-piece orchestra and a children's choir featuring performers from Rosie's Broadway Kids, the concert featured a stellar cast that includedMichael Arden (Bare) as Dickon, Laura Benanti (Nine, the upcoming The Wedding Singer) as Lily, Celia Keenan-Bolger (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) as Martha, David Canary (Clothes for a Summer Hotel) as Ben, Sara Gettelfinger (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) as Rose, and Max von Essen (Dance of the Vampires, Les Miserables) as Albert, the show will feature Steven Pasquale (A Man of No Importance, "Rescue Me") as Archibald Craven, Will Chase (Lennon) as Dr. Neville Craven (replacing Terrence Mann), Jenny Powers (Little Women) as Claire, Deborah S. Craig (…Spelling Bee) as Alice, Matt Cavenaugh (Urban Cowboy) as Lieutenant Shaw, Ben Magnuson (Sweeney Todd) as Major Holmes, Shonn Wiley (42nd Street) as Lieutenant Wright, Barbara Rosenblat reprising the role of Mrs. Medlock, Reshma Shetty as the Ayah, Nehal Joshi as the Fakir, Struan Erlenborn (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) as Colin Craven and Jaclyn Neidenthal (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) as Mary Lennox.
Michael Kosarin provided the musical direction for the concert, which benefited The
Joey DiPaolo AIDS Foundation and Camp TLC (Teens Living with a
Challenge). The musical, based on the famed novel by Frances Hodgson
Burnett, features a book and lyrics by Marsha Norman and music by Lucy
Simon. The musical, which was a hit on Broadway when it opened in April of 1991, follows the adventures of Mary Lennox who learns of a mysterious garden on the estate of her uncle Archibald.For more information,
