On Wednesday, May 11th, Morgan Karr officially released his much- anticipated debut EP. An actor, singer and songwriter hailing from Nashville Tennessee, Karr's first release comes after quickly making his mark on the New York City entertainment scene. The album is co-produced by Grammy Nominated Producer Juan Patiño (Lisa Loeb's "Stay"), Cliff Goldmacher (Jane Monheit, Spencer Day), and Kevin Fisher (Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans).
In 2009, Karr joined the cast of the groundbreaking pop musical "Spring Awakening" on Broadway, which went on to win 8 Tony Awards. In 2010, he won first place at the legendary "Amateur Night At The Apollo" in Harlem, and soon after, he began performing his original music to sold-out audiences in New York and L.A.
In celebration of the new record, Morgan returned to Joe's Pub on Friday, May 13th (11pm) for a release concert that featurec more of Morgan's original material, his twist on hits by One Republic, Bruno Mars, and The Fugees, and a selection of special guests, including
Catherine Brookman (Hair),
Starr Busby (Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens) and
Carrie Manolakos (Wicked, Mamma Mia).
Adding a full band set-up to his soaring vocals, Karr showcased his soulful pop/rock sound alongside Justin Goldner (bass, musical director), Alison Seidner (cello), Adam Stoler (guitar), Drew McKean (drums), and James Olmstead (keys). The show also featured video projections by James Daniel.
