Broadway Remembers Whitney, a benefit concert honoring one of the greatest icons and voices of our generation was held last night, February 27th at Joe's Pub.
Whitney Houston's iconic ballads and dance hits never missed a beat and she has remained an undeniable force and source of inspiration for so many in the theatre community and beyond. Headline talent included Uzo Aduba (Godspell), Derrick Baskin (Memphis), Ato Blankson-Wood (Lysistrata Jones, Hair), Phillip Boykin (Porgy and Bess), Trevon Davis (Porgy and Bess), Nikkieli DeMone (Rent, Ragtime), Lulu Fall (Hair), Chester Gregory (Sister Act, Tarzan), Phyre Hawkins (Hair),Morgan James (Godspell), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Catch Me If You Can), Mykal Kilgore (Hair), Kecia Lewis-Evans (Leap of Faith, The Drowsy Chaperone), Caissie Levy (Ghost), Carrie Manolakos (Mamma Mia, Wicked Nat'l Tour), Julia Mattison (Godspell), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Hair), Kacie Sheik (Hair), Wallace Smith (Godspell, American Idiot) and Pearl Sun (Next To Normal, Happiness). Featuring Catherine Brookman, Nikki Kimbrough and Starr Busby. Music direction and special arrangements were by Kris Kukul.
