The John W. Engeman Theater at Northport's current cast of Little Shop of Horrors has been invited to join the casts of the 2008 Broadway season on Broadway's Greatest Gifts: Carols for a Cure, (Volume 10). The recording is a two-disc set featuring 36 original and traditional holiday songs which is released during Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS' (BC/EFA) annual six week "Gypsy-of-the-Year" period. The 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition will also feature highlights from Volumes 1-9 of Carols for a Cure as well as the premiere of a new song by Elton John and other bonus tracks.

During last year's Broadway stagehands strike, the cast of the John W. Engeman Theater's production of A Wonderful Life supplemented BC/EFA's fundraising efforts raising $12,500 through curtain speeches and sales of last year's CD.

Since 1999, Broadways Greatest Gifts: Carols for a Cure has featured the creative talents of thousands of New York's brightest stars and has raised over $2.5 million for BC/EFA which provides support and care for those suffering with AIDS, as well as lending support to women's health issues. Produced by Lynn Pinto and Rock-It Science Records, Little Shop cast members Melinda Wakefield Alberty, Bob Arnold, Anna Bowen, Krystal Joy Brown, Missy Dowse, Jade Hicks, Josh Lamon, Maxx, Gina Milo, Bill Remington, Craig Sculli and Christian Whelan recorded their version of "This Little Light of Mine" at Quad Studios in Manhattan. Musical Director/Arranger was Adam Waite and Cast Coordinator was Little Shop Director/Choreographer Stephen DeAngelis.

The CD will be on sale at the John W. Engeman Theatre starting on October 25th as well as through www.broadwaycares.org. After Little Shop of Horrors closes on November 9, the John W. Engeman Theater's cast of Oliver! will continue to sell the CD through mid-December at the theater.

The John W. Engeman Theater at Northport is currently showing OLIVER! The show opened on November 28, 2008, and closes January 4, 2009.

This precocious and charming classic has enchanted and entertained audiences for years. Lionel Bart's show is based on Charles Dickens' touching tale of an orphan boy who runs away from the orphanage and learns to live life on the hard streets of a not so merry ole' England. With such unforgettable songs as Food, Glorious Food, You've Got To Pick-A-Pocket Or Two, and I'd Do Anything, this show will have you wanting more, sir!
