OUR TIME will host its 12th ANNUAL BENEFIT GALA, on Monday, April 28, 2014, 7:00PM, at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts & Rosenthal Pavilion at New York University, 566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square South, New York, NY.
The evening will celebrate the courage of people who stutter - more than 70 million globally, including 5% of all children - and honor individuals whose stories and achievements continue to inspire people worldwide. The organization will debut its new name, SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young, embracing its vision that every voice matters and pledging increased support for children who stutter.
This Benefit Gala, hosted by MEREDITH VIEIRA, will honor business legend JOHN SCULLEY, and welcome past honorees Austin Pendleton, Dr. Alan Rabinowitz, Ken Roberson, Carly Simon, and Bill Withers. The evening will feature performances and presentations by outstanding artists and celebrities, including Lauren Ambrose, Michael Cerveris, Rachel Dratch, Jeremy Jordan, Zachary Levi, Jesse L. Martin, James Naughton, Kelli O'Hara, Steven Pasquale, Gloria Reuben, Krysta Rodriguez, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Amy Ryan, Fisher Stevens, David Strathairn, and more, alongside the incredible children participating in our programs. The Musical Director for the evening is E Street Band member Everett Bradley. Cocktails, dinner and live auction complete this exciting evening.
Gala proceeds help SAY provide more than $400,000 in financial aid annually, so families in-need can access innovative programming for children who stutter - transforming shame into self-confidence and helping children reach their fullest potential. 16-year old program participant Argenis noted, "Before, I was afraid to speak in public. But now, I can express myself freely."
