Starting on Thursday, theatre enthusiasts are invited to celebrate the works of American playwright Arthur Miller through stage plays, film screenings, readings and the Miller Unbound lecture series at the 9th annual Master Playwright festival, MillerFest.

The festival kicks off with the Miller Mixer at 7:30 pm on January 21 at the King's Head Pub. Beginning with the always popular introductory lecture, hosted this year by Per Brask, Professor in the Department of Theatre and Film at the University of Winnipeg, Introducing Arthur Miller will help audiences appreciate the themes and scope of Miller's works.

After the lecture, theatre-lovers will have the opportunity to hear from participating companies as they talk about the plays they're presenting at the festival. Like the other events in the Miller Unbound series, the Miller Mixer is free to attend and open to the general public.

A limited number of MillerPasses are still available. A pass allows one admission to each MillerFest production, at a savings of up to $112. To buy a MillerPass or to obtain a free program, please call the MTC Box Office at 942-6537. Individual tickets can be purchased from participating companies.

On behalf of the participating companies, we thank Festival Sponsor Manitoba Blue Cross, as well as Canadian Heritage, Winnipeg Free Press, The Fairmont Winnipeg, Industry Images, Uptown and King's Head Pub for their support of MillerFest.
