An Evening at the Carlyle, Albert M. Tapper's new musical revue set in — but not performed at — the famous New York City hotel, will open June 8 at The Algonquin Theater.
Tom Herman will direct the show, set at "the famed Bemelmans Bar," where veteran bartender Tommy encounters an eclectic, humorous and occasionally infuriating variety of New Yorkers — neurotic barflies, frustrated renters, Sondheim-haters and Sinatra fanatics, ex-con executives, thwarted lovers and even a surprise celebrity or two. On any given night, One might come upon the likes of
Liza Minelli,
Barbra Streisand, Ann Coulter and even the Donald.
