Back in January, SEINFELD creator Larry David announced he and Jerry Seinfeld were collaborating on a new Broadway play. Now, Showbiz411 has revealed the project's title: SHIVA, i.e. sitting shiva, or the Jewish mourning period following a funeral.
Not only that, but David will now be starring in the production, following the advice of producer Scott Rudin.
Yes, Rudin -- Tony-winning Broadway producer of hits such as THE BOOK OF MORMON and last season's A RAISIN IN THE SUN revival, starring Denzel Washington and Tony winner Sophie Okonedo -- has boarded the team.
Among Rudin's other upcoming productions on the Great White Way are A DELICATE BALANCE, 'CURIOUS INCIDENT' and THIS IS OUR YOUTH. Rudin's recent producing credits also include BETRAYAL, THE TESTAMENT OF MARY, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS and more.
Aside from SEINFELD, which David created and in which he occasionally starred, David has written for Curb Your Enthusiasm, Saturday Night Live and more.
Jerry Seinfeld's continued involvement with SHIVA is uncertain, but BWW will keep you updated as we learn more!
