LES MISERABLES' Samantha Barks and More Join DRACULA

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Les Miserables star Samantha Barks, along with Game of Thrones' Art Parkinson and Icelandic actor Thor Kristjansson, has joined the cast of Universal's DRACULA.

Barks, Kristjansson and Parkinson will join previously announced star Luke Evans as Dracula, as well as Dominic Cooper and Sarah Gadon.

Parkinson is set to portray Dracula's son Ingeras. Barks will play a beautiful woman who turns into an evil witch, or what is called a "baba yaga" in Eastern European folklore. Kristjansson is set to play "Bright Eyes", a former slave and current assassin in the Ottoman Army.

Directed by Gary Shore, the film is aiming to begin production in Belfast this August. DRACULA has a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Based on Bram Stoker's classic 1897 horror novel, this new take on the tale will incorporate bits of history from the life of the real Prince Vlad.

Barks made her film debut as Éponine in the film version of the long-running musical LES MISERABLES. For the film, she received nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress - Motion Picture, and Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Acting Ensemble, and won the National Board of Review Award for Best Cast and Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer. She has also appeared onstage in the UK tours of Oliver!, Cabaret, and Les Miserables in the West End. Barks will next take the stage in Chicago at The Hollywood Bowl.

Kristjansson's film credits include the Icelandic blockbuster Black's Game and will next appear in Life in a Fishbowl. Parkinson is best known as Rickon Stark in HBO's Game of Thrones. His upcoming projects include Love, Rosie and The Anomaly.

DRACULA will hit theaters on August 8, 2014.
