According to Billboard.com, Les Miserables: Highlights from the Motion Picture Soundtrack has now hit #2 on the Billboard 200 chart, topped only by Taylor Swift's Red album.

The soundtrack, which was released on December 21, moved from #33 this week with a 218% increase in sales. The last movie musical soundtrack to make it to the #2 spot was 2009's Hannah Montana: The Movie. Before that, the Mamma Mia soundtrack reached the #1 spot in 2008.

The Republic Records album features 20 songs from the film, including the current top seller, Anne Hathaway's version of "I Dreamed a Dream".

Helmed by The King's Speech's Academy Award-winning director, Tom Hooper, the Working Title/Cameron Mackintosh production stars Hugh Jackman, Oscar winner Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, with Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, LES MISERABLES tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, Sacrifice and redemption-a timeless Testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for Decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
