Aspiring musical theatre performers from all over the world will have the opportunity to work with a Broadway veteran faculty in the Musical Theater Conservatory Program at the New York Film Academy, merging stage and screen with cutting-edge movie musical opportunities.

Additional faculty announcements include Jenn Colella (High Fidelity, Urban Cowboy), Lisa Mandel (Sunset Boulevard, Producers, Mamma Mia!), Michael Balderrama (In The Heights, Movin’ Out, Saturday Night Fever), Robin Irwin (Titanic, Grease, Dance of the Vampires), Stephanie Kurtzuba (Billy Eliott, Boy From Oz, Mary Poppins), Dan Johnson and Timothy Smith (Aida, Sweet Charity, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).

Previously announced faculty members include Deidre Goodwin who has eight Broadway credits and who will be starring on Broadway as Velma in Chicago, Erick Buckley (Les Miz, Kiss Me Kate, Phantom and the upcoming Addams Family), Kristy Cates who spent two years playing Elphaba in Wicked, Michelle Potterf (Chicago, Will Rogers Follies, Crazy For You), and Denis Lambert (A Chorus Line, The Producers, White Christmas.) NYFA will also feature three-time Richard Rogers Award Winner and Jonathan Larson Award winner Andrew Gerle, composer of Meet John Doe.

“We are committed to creating a two-year program that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world when it comes to a complete integration of unbelievable musical theatre and film training. Students from around the world will have the opportunity to work with Broadway veterans while having access to film resources that are extensive,” says Department Chair, VP Boyle. “We have a few more mind-blowing surprises to be announced in the coming months.”

The New York Film Academy is considered to be the best hands-on film school in the world. NYFA offers conservatory-style programs and short-term intensive workshops that are based on the philosophy of “learning by doing” with campuses in New York and Universal Studios, California.

Auditions are currently being held for January enrollment. For more information, visit www.nyfa.com or contact Celina Polanco at 212-674-4300.
