HERE LIES LOVE to Play London's Dorfman Theatre; Auditions Set In Manila, 7/5-6

The Public Theatre's production of David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's musical Here Lies Love will open at the new Dorfman Theatre (formerly the Cottesloe) in London. Here Lies Love plays from Tuesday, September 30, 2014 to Thursday, January 8, 2015 with a press night on Monday, October 13.

According to an auditions notice from Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group (ATEG), an open auditions for Here Lies Love will be held on Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6, at Opera Haus, (3657 Bautista St., Makati City in Manila, Philippines). Registration for the auditions will be held on Wednesday, July 2, from 12 noon to 4 p.m., also at Opera Haus.

With concept and lyrics by David Byrne, music by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, and additional music by Tom Gandey and J Pardo, Here Lies Love is directed by "Rocky" on Broadway's Alex Timbers, featuring choreography by Annie-B Parson, set design by David Korins, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting by Justin Townsend, sound by M. L. Dogg and Cody Spencer, and projection design by Peter Nigrini.

Kimberly Grigsby is music supervisor; Justin Levine, music producer; and Matt Stine, music editor.

Its official synopsis says, "Here Lies Love, which premiered in New York in 2013 to critical and popular acclaim, traces the astonishing journey of Imelda Marcos, First Lady of the Philippines, from her meteoric rise to power to descent into infamy and disgrace. The new Dorfman Theatre is transformed into a pulsating club for an immersive theatrical event which combines heart-pounding beats with adrenaline-fuelled choreography and 360-degree staging."

The London production is looking for actors, ages 20 to 35, of various ethnic backgrounds. The auditionee should have a strong pop singing voice; can move well, and be proficient in the English language.

Auditionees must be willing to temporarily relocate to London to attend rehearsals starting Monday, Aug. 18, or Monday, Aug. 25; first preview on Tuesday, Sept. 30; and press night on Monday, Oct. 13. The show will run until Thursday, January 8, 2015.

Auditionees will undergo a one-hour dance call.

Successful aspirants will be asked to sing a contemporary pop song, accompanied by an in-house pianist. Please bring sheet music, resume, and photograph.
