Fashion Photo of the Day 3/4/14 - Charlize Theron

I know a lot of the fashion commentators on TV say not to wear black on the carpet, that if can come off a little safe, boring, etc. But this Christian Dior gown is anything but safe or boring. And I always maintain that there is nothing more classic than a perfectly fitted black dress. Charlize Theron was one of my absolute favorites Sunday night. This dress fit her so perfectly and the design is wonderful twist on a chic silhouette.

There is so much happening I don't even know where to begin! I love the horizontal pleats on the bottom of the dress that flow into the train that is attached by mesh. It's almost like the train is floating on it's own. I have never been a fan of invisible straps until this dress. They are so expertly done and give this total illusion that the dress is effortlessly staying up as if by magic. All that in addition to the deep plunge, Theron's statement necklace and flawless makeup created a major "wow moment" for the award winning actress.
