Fashion Photo of the Day 11/27/13 - Emma Roberts

Oh Emma Roberts - you are so adorable and pretty and have everything going for you, including your aunt's (Julia Roberts) winning smile. But I have to say I am a little on the fence about this Lanvin dress, leaning towards good, but kind of eh. I adore Lanvin and all the label's chicness. And, it should also be said, that I am all for comfort at long events, but comfort doesn't necessarily mean being lazy.

Here is where Roberts' look went oh so right and oh so wrong. I love the dress - the shape, color, pleats at the waist to give shape, everything. It is effortlessly chic and versatile. But Roberts relaxed a bit too much in her styling. Because the dress has so much volume and kind of shapeless (although I hate to use that word), Roberts needed to add some sleekness to her hair, makeup and jewelry to give it a better balance. Her hair looks like she just rolled out of bed. If she had done a great sleek pony tail, or really anything that looked more "done," her overall appearance would have looked ten times more put together and we could have seen the fabulous earrings better. I do like her makeup, but with some sleeker hair, she could have amped up the eyes just a bit more giving that last bit of drama needed. It's all in the details my friends!
