Producers Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, and Jam Theatricals just announced that Tony nominee JESSICA HECHT (A View From the Bridge, "Breaking Bad," The Last Night of Ballyhoo) and ADAM KANTOR (The Last Five Years, Next to Normal, Rent) will join the cast of Fiddler on the Roof. Hecht will play the role of Golde and Kantor will play the role of Motel. Further casting will be announced soon.
Performances will begin on Thursday, November 12, 2015, with an opening night scheduled for Thursday, December 17, 2015, at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). Rehearsals will start on Monday, September 28, 2015. Tickets are now on sale via Telecharge.com or by phone at (212) 239-6200.
Hecht and Kantor join previously announced five-time Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk & Outer Critics Circle Award winner Danny Burstein (Cabaret, Golden Boy, Follies, South Pacific) who will step into the iconic role of Tevye. The production will be directed by Tony Award nominee Bartlett Sher, who was most recently nominated for a Tony Award for the current Broadway revival of The King and I. Sher has directed Burstein on Broadway in the revivals of Golden Boy, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and South Pacific.

Fiddler on the Roof will be choreographed by Hofesh Shechter, inspired by the original choreography ofJerome Robbins. The Music Director will be Ted Sperling (The King and I, South Pacific).
Fiddler on the Roof has book by Joseph Stein, music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. The original Broadway production of the show, which opened in 1964 had the first musical theatre run in history to surpass 3,000 performances. The show won the 1965 Tony Award for Best Musical in addition to eight other Tony Awards that year.
The design team includes scenic design by Michael Yeargan (Tony Award nominee, The King and I), costume design by Catherine Zuber (Tony Award winner, The King and I), and lighting design by Donald Holder (Tony Award nominee, The King and I). Fiddler on the Roof will be their 5th Broadway production working with Sher, after South Pacific, Golden Boy, The Bridges of Madison County, and The King and I. Sound design is by Scott Lehrer (A Delicate Balance, South Pacific). Casting is by Telsey + Co./Abbie Brady Dalton.

JESSICA HECHT (Golde) last starred on Broadway in the Tony nominated play, The Assembled Parties. She was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in the recent revival of Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge opposite Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson. Her other Broadway appearances include the revivals of Harvey opposite Jim Parsons, Brighton Beach Memoirs opposite Laurie Metcalf,Julius Caesar opposite Denzel Washington, After the Fall opposite Peter Krause and Carla Gugino, and her Broadway debut in the Tony Award winning play, The Last Night of Ballyhoo. Her many off-Broadway appearances include starring roles in The Three Sisters (Classic Stage Company), Make Me (Atlantic Theater Company), The House in Town (Lincoln Center Theater), Stop, Kiss (The Public Theater),Lobster Alice (Playwrights Horizons), Plunge (Playwrights Horizons), Flesh and Blood (New York Theatre Workshop), The Fourth Sister (The Vineyard Theatre). She has spent nine seasons at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where she recently played "Blanche" opposite Sam Rockwell in A Streetcar Named Desire. On film, she will next be seen in Tim Blake Nelson's Anesthesia. Her recent films include The English Teacher with Julianne Moore, "Emma Goldman" in Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar with Leonardo DiCaprio, Rob Reiner's The Summer of Monte Wildhorn with Morgan Freeman, and Jonah Hill's mother in The Sitter. Ms. Hecht's extensive television work includes her recurring roles on "Bored to Death" opposite Ted Danson, "Breaking Bad" opposite Bryan Cranston and "Person of Interest." Well known for her role as "Susan" on "Friends," she also starred in "The Single Guy" with Jonathan Silverman, and in James Brooks's "What about Joan?" with Joan Cusack. Her many memorable performances include guest appearances on numerous television series including "The Good Wife," "Nurse Jackie," "ER," "Seinfeld" and the forthcoming Marvel series, "Violet."
ADAM KANTOR (Motel) is best-known to Broadway audiences as playing Mark in the final cast of RENT which was preserved on DVD by Sony Pictures' RENT Filmed Live on Broadway. He reunited with RENT director Michael Greif in NEXT TO NORMAL on Broadway, in which he played Henry. In 2013 Adam played Jamie in the acclaimed NYC revival of THE LAST FIVE YEARS at Second Stage, directed by its composer Jason Robert Brown. Also off-Broadway, he played Princeton/Rod in AVENUE Q. At The Old Globe, he played Proteus in Shakespeare's TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA directed by Mark Lamos, and Jeff in the world premiere of NOBODY LOVES YOU by Itamar Moses and Gaby Alter. Most recently, Adam played Eddie in the world premiere production of DINER by Sheryl Crow and Barry Levinson directed by Kathleen Marshall. On TV he was seen in "The Good Wife" in the role of Ezra. Adam was a co-founder of the nonprofit arts organization, Broadway In South Africa, which provided arts education to underprivileged youth in the townships of South Africa.
