Eating Their Words, reinventing the concept of “dinner theater” by wedding a seasoned chef with prominent playwrights for an integrated evening of new cuisine and new plays, announces its upcoming June 14th collaboration with Chef David Bouley.  A culinary treat, a cultural fix, and a supper-club social, the events offer attendees the World Premiere of three new plays written explicitly for their evening, coupled with the inherent theatricality of a one-of-a-kind meal inspired by the writers' work. The Sunday, June 14th event will feature the company’s second collaboration with the acclaimed Striking Viking Story Pirates.  For this family event Chef Bouley creates a menu inspired by plays written by kids, and performed by adults who wish they still were.  This unique performance and Chef Bouley’s original menu will satiate all ages. Tickets are available through The Story Pirates’ website at www.storypirates.org under the “Tickets” link.  The Sunday, June 14th event begins at 1pm, in Bouley’s private dining room (163 Duane Street).

The Bouley event marks Eating Their Words’ second collaboration with the Story Pirates, following last June’s sold-out performance at Country featuring a menu by Chef Willis Loughhead.  For this exciting performance, Chef Bouley inspires three children to write stories based on seasonal ingredients. After letting their imaginations run wild, their stories – each corresponding to a course - are handed back to the Chef, who in turn creates original dishes inspired by those very stories.

Founder and Artistic Director, Marlo Hunter, launched Eating Their Words in March of 2008 at The Tasting Room with Chef Colin Alevras, with subsequent events at the iconic Peacock Alley in the Waldorf = Astoria with Chef Cedric Tovar, Country with Chef Willis Loughhead, and Tailor with Chef Sam Mason and Mixologist Eben Freeman.  The innovative company has produced World Premieres by playwrights Neil LaBute (reasons to be pretty), Theresa Rebeck (Mauritius), Brooke Berman (A Perfect Couple), and Beau Willimon (Farragut North) among many others.  It is the only theatrical or culinary event of its kind.  Further information about Eating Their Words can be found at www.eatingtheirwords.com.

The Striking Viking Story Pirates adapt and perform stories written by children to promote literacy as a vital part of early childhood education, and to preserve the spark of youthful creativity often lost in the transition to adulthood.  Founded in 2003, the Pirates' programs have grown to reach tens of thousands of children each year.  Their award winning musical sketch comedy show performs each Saturday at 2pm at the Drama Book Shop.  Information for the Story Pirates can be found at www.storypirates.org.

World-renowned Chef David Bouley recently relocated the legendary Bouley restaurant to 163 Duane Street.  The Michelin-starred Bouley is also recognized by Zagat as one of New York’s top ten restaurants.  The Story Pirates event will be held in their exquisite private dining room.

Tickets for the June 14th event are $100 (adults and children) and include the original three course meal, tax, gratuity, and the performance.  Seating is limited.  The Story Pirates are a not-for-profit organization.  Ticket purchases are tax-deductible.
