Jessie Nelson began her career acting at The Public Theater and with Shakespeare In The Park, but then the movie industry called and she made a name as writer, director and producer for films like CORINNA, CORINNA, I AM SAM and LOVE THE COOPERS.

But the theatre has her back now, and she's written the book for one of the season's most highly anticipated Broadway musicals, WAITRESS, based on the hit 2007 motion picture. Charitybuzz is now hosting an on-line auction for a private meet and greet with Jessie Nelson after taking in a performance of her new show.

The winning bid will benefit the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Southern Caifornia. Founded in 1920, the ACLU defends the fundamental rights outlined in the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These include the right to freedom of speech and assembly; the right to religious freedom; due process of law; equality before the law; and the right to privacy. The ACLU also relies on state constitutional provisions and federal and state laws that further these and similar rights.
