BroadwayWorld is excited to bring you "Songs from My Living Room"- a new series that goes into the home of one of today's most acclaimed contemporary songwriters, as he explains the stories behind his songs. The monthly series will feature special guests from all corners of the entertainment industry to help bring to life the music and lyrics of Scott Alan straight from his living room into yours.
The second episode, directed by Robbie Rozelle, features jazz vocalist Jane Monheit singing Alan's "Always" from his second album, 'Keys'.
Scott Alan is an internationally celebrated songwriter who has released five albums (Dreaming Wide Awake, Keys, What I Wanna Be What I Grow Up, LIVE & Anything Worth Holding On To) featuring some of today's brightest Broadway and international theatre stars as well as recording artists such as Marc Broussard, Pentatonix, Jane Monheit and American Idol alumni RJ Helton & Diana DeGarmo. Among the theatre royalty to have sung and recorded Alan's compositions include: Tony Award winners Lea Salonga, Adriane Lenox, Patina Miller, Sutton Foster, Frances Ruffelle, Nikki M. Alan has sold out concerts internationally in London (recently selling out a five day residency at The Hippodrome and selling out the renowned IndigO2 at The O2), Germany, Holland and Australia as well as various cities around the states including seven sold-out concerts at the legendary jazz club Birdland.
Alan's work has been heard on albums by theatre stars Stephanie J. Block, Alison Jiear, Annalene Beechey, John Barr, Nikki Renee Daniels, Stuart Matthew Price among others. His compositions have been heard on the 9th season of 'So You Think You Can Dance' (It's Good to See You Again,' VH1's Off-Pitch ('Watch Me Soar' and and closing song in the documentary film 'The Standbys' ('If I Own Today').
His latest show HOME with playwright Christy Hall is scheduled for a West End premiere in the Spring of 2015, produced by Julian Stoneman (Urinetown; Let It Be). His show 'IF I' with playwright Kaori-san Kobayashi opens in September 2014 at the Umeda Arts Theater in Tokyo, Japan. Scott Alan's latest release 'Anything Worth Holding On To' features the composer singing his own work and dueting with special guest Shoshana Bean (Wicked; Hairspray).
He will soon return to Rockwell Table and Stage on Monday, November 10th. The 8pm concert will feature guest vocalists performing Alan's Greatest Hits in an intimate night of supreme storytelling and vocals.
