Produced by 'Alam Mowazy Company for Art Production' , produced by Producer Nancy Alam El Deen and Sponsored by The American Embassy in Cairo, The Perfect Crime takes place in an unknown place and time starting off by a loud female scream from rape crime, the rapist remains unknown to the audience throughout the whole performance, making the audience in the detective shoes throughout the whole performance for them to try to identify the rapist.
The production takes place between the court, prison cell , the victim's home and a jazz bar all one one set throughout the whole performance where there is no clear separation borders between them all. The blurred lines between all places, different moods and ongoing action parralel to each other ,remained consistant throughout the whole play for a purpose of eliminating all borderlines between the different people in the story, eliminating all borderlines between humanity.
"We made the play in a town of no specific place or time for the play to take a more humanitarian form more than taking a form that revolves solely around the people in the play or a certain culture" stated Mohamed Adel , the Playwright and Director of the Play.
The play takes a very different form than most plays that take place in Egypt. The production was accompanied by live Piano music scoring throughout the whole produced composed and played by Rami Attallah , one of the most famous musicians in Egypt ; making the play have a constant motif that reocurrs all throughout which was revolutionary to Egyptian Theatre. Moreover, placing the audience in the detective shoes where they had to fill judicial cards placed under their seats at the end of the play solving the crime gave a sense of ownership to the audience which brought delight to all audience members.
With an outstanding cast of Egypt's best Theatre actors starring: Hamza El Aily , Yehia Ahmed , Sarah Darzawy ,Osama Abdallah , Mohamed Hefzy , Ashraf Habashy alongside Mostafa Khattab , Eman Yasser , Ahmed El Sherbiny , Ali El Daly , Mohamed Gamal , Mariam George ,Mohamed Arafa ,Youmna Bahaa El Din and Ahmed Maher ; the production has sold out for the three nights with audience members hungry for such exquisite new revolutionary theatre productions.
