Taste of the Seaport, presented by the Howard Hughes Foundation, will be held today, October 17th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. This annual event is now in its 6th year. The fall festival celebrates the food and beverage scene that is nestled in Lower Manhattan comprising the Financial District and the South Street Seaport.
There will be musical entertainment, children's activities and treats from over 40 food and beverage purveyors. This year, proceeds will benefit the arts and enrichment programs at two of the city's downtown elementary schools, PS 343 Peck Slip School and PS 397 Spruce Street School. The festival will be held along Front Street between Fulton Street and Peck Slip.
Taste of the Seaport is considered a wonderful community builder. Not only does it bring together the local community to support schools, but everyone in the greater metropolitan area can enjoy the inviting ambiance of the seaport area and the festivities.
As a special part of the day, Julian Medina, the renowned chef and owner of Toloache will be doing a cooking demonstration for guests.
