When we talk about a play or musical that speaks about a different culture, we can say that the production is about race and all that the race entitles. Whether or not it is speaking on love, achieving your dreams or posing a big question on humanity, we believe in it's diversity because it talks about a different experience. And we are content that there is a piece about this very culture because it relates in the most minuscule level of who we are.

So I ask, different from what? We want our stories to be diverse and have a more diverse curriculum in our education but what exactly does that mean? You mean different from the standardize writers who WE MUST KNOW or we are not educated citizens of America. But everything that has a different culture is an extra content that could be presented in a more relatable atmosphere. Why?

The media talks about this all the time, telling the stories of those who are silenced and those who we don't know. We advocate for them by filming, writing stories and discussing solutions of these very problems. We hear about the real heartbreaks that are happening right here in America but don't ever hear about it in public school systems.

When we are talking about diversity we are talking about awareness and exposure of certain groups of people. We are shading light to those things that have already been there.

This isn't a new thing. We are afraid of exposing ourselves and who we are and rather have someone else tell the story.

It's a shame really for America, brainwashing billions of young minds with the thought of how wonderful America is. And I get it, America our very capitalist country rides on the economic strength on our emotions. We buy things to make ourselves happy and work ourselves to death for it. We don't care for anyone else because who truly has time for anyone else.

If we only knew the truth, we might actually be at peace with ourselves and who we are and what we do.

They say Arts, Humanities careers in education has absolutely no value. But everything we buy and what we consume was created by an artist.

And not all artist are painters, they are designers and chefs and executive directors of big corporations to small business owners. They have created something unique and just for us. Art does that, Theatre does that, culture does that.

We can't keep quiet and hope that someone else sells a better dream. We have to want it. BAD. So yeah, we need our stories exposed not as a part of a quota but a part of the agenda. Theatre as much as there is room to play, there is not enough stories being exposed to go along with.

We stick the familiar because it's cool and we settle. This isn't about having one stories. White writers, just write about everything this is probably why we keep seeing the same stories repeated over and over. Change the story by telling your truth and your story.

This is also why there is so many bad movies and tv shows. Like who truly is a fan of Two Broke Girls? But it's on air and people watch it. Bad or not it's there, being supported.
