AVENUE Q will soon hit another milestone! With this Sunday's (November 15th 7:30pm) performance of the Tony Award-winning musical of AVENUE Q in NYC, the beloved, critically-acclaimed show will make history -- again! -- when it plays its 2,534th performance at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.), matching the number of performances AVENUE Q ran at the Golden Theatre, where the musical played for 6.5 years before transferring to New World Stages.

Today, with its combined total of 5,068 performances, AVENUE Q remains one of the freshest, funniest and most relevant shows on any stage anywhere, proving that young people are forever arriving in New York with dreams larger than their bank accounts. And proving, also, that everyone is still a little bit racist. And that the internet is still for porn.

AVENUE Q began performances on Broadway on July 31, 2003 and at the conclusion of the final performance at the Golden on September 13, 2009, producers Kevin McCollum, Robyn Goodman and Jeffrey Seller made the surprise announcement from the stage that the show was in fact NOT closing, but transferring a few weeks later to New World Stages, where it resumed performances on October 9, 2009 and continues to play to large and happy audiences, and is going strong.

In its 12 years -- to date -- AVENUE Q has demonstrated that George W. Bush was indeed "only for now," endured the death of the real Gary Coleman (a character in the show), found its way into the national conversation about racism when referenced in a speech by FBI Director James Comey, and was featured in several nationally-televised public service announcements about AIDS awareness, along with the show's recent Breast Cancer Awareness month campaign.

The current cast of AVENUE Q includes Nick Kohn, Danielle K. Thomas (both transferred from the Golden to New World Stages), Elizabeth Ann Berg, Kerri Brackin, Grace Choi, Ben Durocher, Jason Jacoby, Katie Boren, Imari Hardon, Michael Liscio, Jr. and Jed Resnick.

Winner of three Tony Awards -- including Best Musical -- AVENUE Q is the hilarious and heartwarming tale of a group of 20-somethings fresh out of college -- people and puppets alike -- who lives as neighbors on a street in New York where they've come to pursue their big dreams and search for their purpose in life.

AVENUE Q has music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, book by Jeff Whitty, and is directed by Jason Moore. Based on an original concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, with puppets conceived and designed by Rick Lyon, AVENUE Q has musical supervision by Stephen Oremus, choreography by Ken Roberson, scenic design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Mirena Rada, lighting design by Howell Binkley, and sound design by ACME Sound Partners.

AVENUE Q is produced by Kevin McCollum, Robyn Goodman, Jeffrey Seller, The Vineyard Theatre and The New Group.
