CHESS gets the 3-disc deluxe edition treatment!

A newly remastered edition of the 1984 international hit concept recording of operatic rock musical CHESS by Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Tim Rice is set for release next month and is now available for pre-order according to a new listing.

The new edition of CHESS is set to not only feature remastered recordings of the album's original track listing, but also several bonus tracks as well as a special DVD showcasing the music videos created to promote the album - "One Night In Bangkok", "I Know Him So Well", "Nobody's Side", "Pity The Child" and "The Arbiter" included.

Additionally, a TV special tracing the unusual trajectory of CHESS on record, onstage and in concert is set to air to coincide with the new release.

Andersson recently related of the remastered edition of CHESS, "We went a couple of years ago just to drag out all the recordings, the multi-tracks, to see if there was anything we could do for that. Firstly we should try to sort of tidy-up and do a re-mastering of the old one and also, possibly add stuff because we took like 5 or 6 things out of the first concept album because there wasn't room. We had to make three albums then and that was sort of tricky to handle, so it was a double album. Now we can squeeze it in on a CD, that's not a problem. So we are going to listen through that, and do a re-mastering and add some stuff that is not on the original record. Just for fun. And maybe the videos of One Night In Bangkok or I Know Him So Well. There's some footage, there was a Swedish documentary made here by Jakob Dahlin, we might, I don't know if they could put that in too. We don't know, but we are working on that. Yeah that's nice."
