Shore Break tells the story of a man brought up in an emotionally illiterate, culturally bereft world. Bumping through childhood and adolescence into adulthood, he is consumed by awkwardness, confusion, anger and an inability to connect.
Something inside him has broken.
So, he turns to the ocean. A place that will hold him and keep his secrets.
As memory overtakes, he begins to unravel, trying to decipher what he has done, who he is, and how he might find his way back to civilisation.
But is there enough forgiveness left in the world?
“It is not only Pitman’s magnificent performance that has impact. The quality of his writing is impeccable, awe-inspiring even. There are a multitude of rhythms here, from liltingly poetic to the staggered beat of a man trying to articulate and understand his deepest, discontented thoughts.” Stage Whispers
“Shore Break’s troubled, reminiscing narrator [conveys] descriptions of the wild beauty of the Australian coastal landscape and the rhythms of a colourful Aussie vernacular.” Arts Hub
