California Musical Theatre announces the 2012-13 Broadway Sacramento season at Community Center Theater, featuring Tony Award-winning new Broadway musicals as well as heart-warming family favorites. Memphis, which won four 2010 Tony Awards and is still playing on Broadway, kicks off the season, followed by Peter Pan, starring Cathy Rigby, Rock of Ages, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and multi-Tony Award winner Billy Elliot the Musical. The final show of the season is a Broadway Mega-Hit that can’t be revealed until August due to contractual obligations. That show is a brand new production of one of the most beloved and popular Broadway musicals ever, and has been highly praised by critics and audiences alike throughout its wildly successful tour. MEMPHIS Announces National Tour Stops Through 2013!

Hockadoo! The 2010 Tony winning Best Musical MEMPHIS will continue to blow the roof off of theatres across the country into the 2012 -2013 season. The season will kick off on September 11th in Portland, OR at the Keller Auditorium, and a return engagement is scheduled in the city where it all began – Memphis, TN at the Orpheum Theatre. On Wednesday, March 14th MEMPHIS celebrated its’ 1,000th performance on Broadway where it continues to bring audiences to their feet on a daily basis. (more...)

MEMPHIS Producers Pledge Support to National Fund for New Musicals

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced today that Kenny and Marleen Alhadeff, NAMT members and partners in Junkyard Dog Productions, have made a four-year pledge to support NAMT’s National Fund for New Musicals, a program that awards grants to not-for-profit member theatres to support the development of new works. This grant helps match a 5-year leadership pledge made by Stacey Mindich in 2011. Together, these contributions create a solid, vital foundation on which NAMT will build the future of this young program. (more...)

MEMPHIS Celebrates Black History With INSPIRE CHANGE Talkback Series

The Inspire Change Talkback Series celebrating Black History Month, minorities, and their impact on the entertainment industry, will begin on Thursday, February 9th. Immediately following 7pm performances of MEMPHIS on Thursdays in February, patrons will be invited to participate in a talkback about the role of minorities in various aspects of the performing arts including dance, music and theater.
