Due to the fabulous increase of Musical Theatre productions in Brazil, CAL-Casa das Artes de Laranjeiras, the most famous Drama School and Theatrical Research Institution in the Country, located in the middle of the amazing Rio de Janeiro forest, opened a program of several Musical Theatre workshops called MUSICAL THEATRE DIVE (MERGULHO NO MUSICAL). The project is directed by Mirna Rubim, a distinguished Brazilian singer and actress (THE SOUND OF MUSIC, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES) with the colaboration of Menelick de Carvalho.

Current stars five-time Emmy Award-winner Kelsey Grammer, 2010 Tony Award winner Douglas Hodge and 2010 Tony Award nominee Robin De Jesús will play their final performances on Sunday, February 13.

Featured voices include Bernadette Peters and the cast and orchestra from A Little Night Music, Kelsey Grammer, Douglas Hodge, Christine Andreas and the cast of Tony Award winning La Cage aux Folles; Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley, from Next to Normal; plus the casts from Memphis, Wicked, Elf, and In the Heights. Jackie Hoffman and the cast of The Addams Family sing 'It's Chanukah,' a Jackie Hoffman/Lon Hoyt original song written during their time together at Hairspray.

A record, near-capacity audience leapt to its feet at the Opening Night of Jerry Herman's 8-time Tony Award-nominated musical, MACK & MABEL, on Friday, September 24, at the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum, 6 Normandy Heights Road in Morristown, NJ. This rollicking and romantic delight by the Tony Award-winning composer of La Cage Aux Folles, Hello, Dolly! and Mame runs through Sunday, October 17, 2010.

Yesterday, May 27, the Outer Critics Circle honored the recipients of the 2010 Outer Critics Circle Awards in a reception at Sardis in Times Square. Last week on April 20, 2010, Actor's Equity's David Westphal hosted the famed Gypsy Robe Ceremony for company members of AMERICAN IDIOT at the St. James Theatre. A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES chorus member Dale Hensley turned over the robe to AMERICAN IDIOT cast member Andrew Call. BroadwayWorld was there for the celebration.

To borrow the lyrics from 'The Best of Times' - the joy was contagious, the entourage outrageous, it was hot and hectic, effervescent and eclectic at LA CAGE AUX FOLLES when, on Sunday, April 18, 2010, the cast made its way to the stage for the traditional Gypsy Robe Ceremony just prior to the musical's official opening later that evening.

The Drama League (Jano Herbosch, President; Gabriel Shanks, Executive Director), announced the nominations for the 2009-10 Drama League Awards today at Sardi's with the help of Broadway stars Kelsey Grammer (La Cage Aux Folles) and Bebe Neuwirth (The Addams Family). The 76th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon will take place on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 12:00pm at the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. The event will be co-hosted by Vanessa Williams (Sondheim on Sondheim) and Michael Urie (The Temperamentals).

The Broadway revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES celebrated its first preview production at the Longacre Theatre, on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. The show opens on April 18, 2010.
