Beauty and the Beast on Stage Videos - Broadway

Disney’s beloved Olivier Award-winning stage musical Beauty and the Beast - re-imagined and re-designed in a completely new production staged by members of the original award-winning creative team - will come to London in Summer 2022, as part of its UK & Ireland Tour.

The 5th Avenue Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Bill Berry recently sat down to chat with lyricist Sir Tim Rice about his career and what makes Disney's Beauty and the Beast such a perennial piece of musical theater.

'Beauty and the Beast' is a 1991 Disney animated musical with music by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.

On Wednesday, November 20th Jeopardy! celebrated the 25th anniversary of Disney on Broadway with a category devoted to five clues about DOB's stage adaptations, and accompanied by production footage.

Disney on Broadway is celebrating its 25th anniversary! With that big milestone, comes a big announcement.

25 years ago today, Disney's first musical opened on Broadway. Beauty and the Beast, based off of the 1991 animated film, went on to run for over 13 years and played a total of 5461 performances. 

For 25 years Grammy and Tony award-nominated Michael McElroy and BIV have been lifting spirits with their music and service. This month they send out a rousing call to action filled with joy and promise, with Seize the Day from Newsies.

On April 18, 1994, a musical opened that would change the face of Broadway for years to come. Beauty and the Beast not only took New York City by storm, but marked the birth of Disney Theatrical Productions. Since then, its 10 Broadway titles (including current hits Frozen, Aladdin and The Lion King) have been seen by over 160 million theatergoers and have been nominated for 62 Tony Awards, winning Broadway's highest honor 20 times.

The animated classic Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' will be given new life for two special evenings at the Hollywood Bowl. Marissa Jaret Winokur joins the all-star cast as The Wardrobe, get a sneak peek at her performance of a cut song below!

Bill Hanney's award-winning North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) is producing a new and original production of Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST uniquely conceived for its trademark theater-in-the-round. On this day in 2002, the Broadway production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast played its 3,225th performance, making it the tenth longest running show in Broadway history. The show surpassed Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse's musical Life with Father to earn the distinction.

On this morning's GMA, Award winning composers Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Robert and Kristine-Anderson Lopez celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and reflected on the impact of the timeless animated movie.

In celebration of Disney's Beauty and the Beast's 20th anniversary on the stage, Disney Theatrical Productions, NETworks and Broadway Entertainment Group will present the first-ever international tour for the title. The English-language tour will open at Istanbul's Zorlu Center in October 2014 and will tour to diverse international markets including Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia marking the first time Disney's timeless musical will have been seen in these territories. The trailer has been released for the two disk limited time only edition of 'Beauty and the Beast' which will be out on November 23, 2010. The cover of the DVD has also been released. The Blu-ray high-definition disk will be released on October 5, 2010.
