BWW TV: Sneak Peek of Lauren Molina & Jason Tam in Keen Company's MARRY ME A LITTLE- Performance Highlights!

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company presents Marry Me A Little, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, conceived by Craig Lucas and Norman Rene, directed by Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein, starring Lauren Molina and Jason Tam. Marry Me A Little kicks off their 2012 - '13 season and will be followed by a newly revised version of the 1991 play, The Old Boy by A.R. Gurney. Performances will continue through October 27th, with two additional Wednesday matinees on October 17th and 24th.

Currently playing at the La Jolla Playhouse is The Nightingale, by the creative team behind the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening: Steven Sater (book and lyrics) and Duncan Sheik (music). Directed by Tony Award nominee Moises Kaufman (33 Variations, I Am My Own Wife), the production runs July 10 - August 5, 2012 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. The theatre recently held an open discussion about the color-blind casting of the show, which has gotten attention amoungst the Asian-American community. Today in 2007, the first Broadway revival of 110 in the Shade opened at Studio 54, where it ran for 94 performances. 110 in the Shade is a musical with a book by N. Richard Nash, lyrics by Tom Jones, and music by Harvey Schmidt. Based on Nash's 1954 play The Rainmaker, it focuses on Lizzie Curry, a spinster living on a ranch in the American southwest, and her relationships with local sheriff File, a cautious divorcé who fears being hurt again, and charismatic con man Bill Starbuck, posing as a rainmaker who promises the locals he can bring relief to the drought-stricken area. The revival cast featured Audra McDonald as Lizzi and John Cullum as H.C. Curry. (more...)

Special Effects Designer Gregory Meeh uses a vast array of technologies to build illusions for live stage productions. He has created pyrotechnic explosions and atmospheric effects such as rain, fire, and fog for Spamalot, Women on the Verge, and 110 in the Shade on Broadway. A special effect event like The Phantom of the Opera chandelier is comprised of many elements. Seen here are Treasure Island's simple yet creative effects, as well as Meeh's expertise with firearms (Les Miserables, Miss Saigon).
